Brighouse Bay has everything holiday makers could ask
for! Set in a quiet and picturesque peninsula, it is one of south west Scotland's hidden gems! The Bay boasts magnificent
views over the Irish sea and is surrounded by 1200 acres of great walking country. There are also safe and sandy beaches
for those hot sunny days, cycling routes including the Seven Stanes, fishing, sailing, windsurfing, horse riding and bird
watching to mention but a few. The area is also a natural wildlife haven, with areas of the shoreline being SSSI-Site
of Special Scientific Interest, mainly due to rare irises and flax, Knatter-jack toad, raptors, divers, hare, deer, pheasant,
otters and mink. Keep your eyes open and you may also see seals basking or swimming in the bay. For those who
enjoy a game of golf, there are numerous golf courses including the championship course at Southerness.
Kirkcudbright, the Artists' town, is a few miles away. It is a small attractive
town, full of art galleries, gift shops and a supermarket. Slightly further afield is Castle Douglas, also known
as the Food Town, with delicious delicatessans, restaurants, gift shops and supermarkets to cater for all your needs.
Once you have tasted the delights of Brighouse Bay and the surrounding area, you'll
certainly want more. We hope you enjoy your stay in such a beautiful, idyllic place and hurry back!
